“Your Name” Review: The stereotypical anime that exceeds the modern romance, time and tropes. Did you know that “Your Name”a.k.a Kimi no na wa is the highest-grossing of anime film all time worldwide earning a revenue of $358,924,129!This anime will entice you with its unconventional storytelling approach and will leaves you in tears. Thanks to its gorgeous visuals and animation it swept the world and earns a huge audience and revenue. Your Name is poised to be a gateway anime film for a whole new generation.
To be honest, this anime has a lot of its cliches and tropes that Japanese anime film are known for are at play here: The story centers at two Japanese High School student, the contrast of their technology and tradition at their journey, and the memory of a massively destructive event haunts the collective consciousness.
Even though it has its cliches and the well-known trope. The writer-director Makoto Shinkai executes it at its perfection. The notable parts of the film is obviously similar to his other works and it still blends together.
In the broadest sense, Your Name is about the two high school students, Mitsuha and Taki, who have never met but randomly inhabits each other’s bodies at random times, for random lengths of time, and with no memory of these events. On the surface, it is an anime film about body-swapping comedy with romantic and dramatic elements.
They got to know each other by leaving a notes for themselves each time they will be revert back to their own body or whenever they randomly swaps their body. To give too much away about Your Name would be a disservice to audiences as it’s best to go into this movie as cold as possible. It’s much more than a body-swapping comedy; though that aspect is played up for laughs early on, it becomes crucial to the depths of the mutual understanding between Mitsuha and Taki by the story’s end.

Mitsuha Miyamizu is reserved and hard-working, both as a student in school and at her family’s shrine. The demands of tradition and the rather rural styling of her small town frustrate Mitsuha, in her frustration, she wishes to be reborn as a handsome boy in Tokyo as she shouted out loudly. a city full of her desires, culture and innovation.

While, Taki Tachibana, a high school student living in Tokyo who doggedly pursues his interest whether its architecture or affection of his co-worker Miki Okudera. However, when Taki wakes up one morning to find himself in the body of Mitsuha–and, yes, after hilariously and rather innocently coming to terms with said new body–he finds himself on a path that is very different from the one he has been planning for all along.

Your Name only a traditional romantic story about two star-crossed lovers crosses their love those elements are there, as is the legend of the Red String of Fate connecting those destined to be together. When Taki Tachibana sees the ill-fated of Mitsuha he does all of his best to protect her and her townspeople from suffering a meteor strike. When he managed to do this Taki Tachibana fulfilled the seems-to-be quest in saving the fate of his beloved Mitsuha. However, they will no longer randomly swaps their body. The final moment for their love was when they met in the outskirts of the crater of the meteor site. Their bodies are swapped but they haven’t exchange their names, the time was running out for them. Although they met there, they do but in their conscious only. When they’re disappearing from each of their own consciousness, Taki writes his confession on the hand of Mitsuha while he is still on the body of Mitsuha. Mitsuha did the opposite and write her name in the hands of Taki. Then, they disappear from each of their own consciousness. Nowhere to found. Fast forward in 5 years, They met again in the famous stairways in Japan, Taki, then ask “Your Name?” leaving the audiences in a cliffhanger ending.

As I’ve said what’s all about the anime film Your Name. This anime film is worth your time and if you just want some feels. Overall, i give this anime film a rating of 10/10.
